Well, it is that time again, time for a good old fashioned job hunt (cue Elmer Fud). The company that I work for is deciding to not deal in the Dallas area just yet, which means, I will not have a job at the end of the month. I knew that this was a possibility so I have already begun the process of calling contacts, emailing my resume out, making connections on LinkedIn, and the endless other duties associated with looking for a job. Even my current boss, a great guy, has given me some good leads on potential work. But even though I feel like I have exhausted every resource that I have and getting some really good leads on jobs, I am still in the dreaded waiting area of life.

I hate the feeling that I have no control over an outcome. It drives me insane! But I put my trust that the Lord has everything in control. When I look back on major events in my life, there was always a waiting area. Whether it was dating before marriage or a grade on a test, there was always the time of "the unknown." "The unknown" is a very uncomfortable place where you think you might know a direction you should go, only to get lost several times before the real road pops right in front of you. The cool thing about this place though is that God has you there for a reason. God just doesn't want to flaunt cool things, people, or opportunities in front of you and take them away to see you squirm, He always wants to teach you something in it. It could be patience, humility or faith, but you have to look for it and know that it is there somewhere, hidden in the midst of the frustration that you are experiencing. When you find what God is showing you, you realize that you weren't really waiting on a job, wife, or grade, you were waiting on Him to reveal what you found.

All of this to say, I am not afraid that a job won't come, I am more afraid that I will not fully receive what God could have shown me while I wait.

I know that LOST is a crazy show with, some would say, too many twists and turns, but I think it is such a creative show. It takes some crazy creative energy to keep a show like LOST on the air for 6 years and keep everything in the show linked together to make some sort of sense. The creators fought with the network because they wanted to keep the show on the air for 10 seasons, but the creators had a plan for it and knew that 6 was the limit. LOST has changed television and made scifi cool again. I am sad to see it go, but excited to see it push other shows to the next limit.

I will be honest, when I first heard the name "iPad", I was not all that happy. When I saw the images of the iPad, I thought, "what is different about this?" But when I saw the video of it in action, I was in awe. As developers get a hold of the new SDK the applications and functionality of the device will only get better. It seems like people are very skeptical at this point, I am too to a degree. Even now, I am sitting across from a girl telling her friend about it and she said, "I don't see what so special about it." I think there will aways be skeptics, I guess we will just have to wait 2 or 3 months to find out if this thing is truly "magical" as Steve Jobs called it.

TechCrunch reports that Steve Jobs has been heard saying that the upcoming Apple tablet "will be the most important thing I've ever done." The report is said to come from multiple independent sources:

We haven't heard this first hand, but we've heard it multiple times second and third hand from completely independent sources. Senior Apple execs and friends of Jobs are telling people that he's about as excited about the upcoming Apple Tablet as he's ever been.

Jobs had been previous quoted as being "extremely happy" with the upcoming tablet.

Apple is holding a media event on January 27th. We'll provide ongoing updates as well as a Spoiler Free page if you would rather wait to watch a video of the event yourself after it is posted.

I really hope this thing lives up to the hype. I have been putting money aside since November for this thing. It better have a razor, coffee maker, and a projector (just for fun).

I do believe that the Tablet will revolutionize the Newspaper and Magazine industries, but other than that, we will have to wait until Wednesday:) Anyone want to meet up for lunch and read the live blog with me? (I know I am a nerd).
